Getting Started on Twitter with a Realistic Timeline

by Jennifer Laycock While millions of people and tens of thousands of businesses have flocked to Twitter over the past few years, many companies are still standing in the doorway wondering if they should step inside. Their biggest concern? How much time will they spend and how much benefit will they reap. After all, if you talk to anyone who has invested heavily in Twitter, they’ll tell you just how much time it can take. It’s easy to get sucked into the conversation and it’s not uncommon to log in, then glance at the clock a few moments later only to learn hours have passed. With that in mind, it’s important to establish a realistic timeline for yourself to make sure you’re only spending the time you need. If you’re just getting started, here’s a quick five step timeline to give you something to work with. The idea here is to spend a bit of time at each stage before moving on to the next.
